Passmore, ext 2009 <br /> Chart TELEPHONE NUMBER: <br /> Hillsborough 732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br /> Mebane 227-2031 <br /> Durham 688-7331 <br /> PURPOSE: <br /> To receive the Department on Aging's current management report <br /> for the four Senior Centers in Orange County. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Department on Aging was created by ordinance in October, 1980 <br /> to serve as a central resource for planning, coordination, <br /> information and services for older adults in Orange County. The County's <br /> first Senior Center opened in Hillsborough as the result of a 1980 Senior <br /> Center grant. Since then, the total number of Centers managed by the <br /> Department has increased to four. They are as follows: <br /> * Hillsborough, at the Whitted Human Services Center (Tryon St) , est. 1980 <br /> * Southern Orange at the Multipurpose Center (Caldwell St) , est. 1984 <br /> * Carrboro at the ArtsCenter (300G E.Main St) , est. 1987 <br /> * Chapel Hill at the Galleria (400 S. Elliott Rd) , est. 1991 <br /> Facility descriptions and current management structure information are <br /> provided in the accompanying report.
