The facility provides office space for the Parks staff, as well as a location to assemble <br />various items used in the parks (tables, info kiosks, etc.) and maintain equipment, such as <br />mowers and other small equipment used in parks maintenance. The County Motor Pool <br />continues to service vehicles and larger motorized equipment. <br />The leased property is located at 503 Cornerstone Court, Hillsborough. Cornerstone Court is off <br />Highway 86 between Interstate 85 and Highway 70A. This site allows reasonably convenient <br />access to stage and move equipment and supplies to the County's current and proposed parks <br />at Little River, West Ten, Twin Creeks and the Northern Park. <br />As a reminder, the 2007 update of the Space Needs Study recommends the Parks Operations <br />Base eventually be located at the New Hope Park at Blackwood Farm. The referenced study <br />has not been adopted by the Board. Funding for construction. of aCounty-owned facility is not <br />currently available. <br />Highlights of the terms of a lease for the 4,000 square foot facility with outside storage include: <br />• Terra of lease: August 1, 2007 through July 31, 2010 <br />• The lease may be renewed for one additional three-year term at the County and <br />Landlord's discretion. <br />• Lease amount shall increase by 2% annually ($35,710, $36,425, $37,155) <br />• 'All other terms of the lease remain in effect. <br />
