Recognition of Chapel Hill High School Men's and Women's Cross Country State <br /> Championship Teams <br /> The Board considered approving a proclamation recognizing the Chapel Hill High <br /> School Men's and Women's Cross Country teams on winning the N.C. High School Athletic <br /> Association state championships and authorizing the Chair to sign. <br /> Commissioner Rich said she pulled this item to recognize these teams publicly. <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> PROCLAMATION OF RECOGNITION ON <br /> CHAPEL HILL HIGH SCHOOL WINNING 2016 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS <br /> IN MEN'S AND WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY <br /> WHEREAS, on November 5, 2016, the Chapel Hill High School Men's and Women's Cross <br /> Country Teams each won the North Carolina High School Athletic <br /> Association's (NCHSAA) 3A State Championship meet; and <br /> WHEREAS, under the guidance of Coach Joan Nesbit Mabe, the women's team won its 11th <br /> NCHSAA state championship and its second consecutive title, and the men's <br /> team claimed its 10th state title; and <br /> WHEREAS, through hard work, dedication, teamwork, and commitment, the teams brought <br /> honor upon themselves, Chapel Hill High School, the Chapel Hill / Carrboro <br /> City Schools District and Orange County; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> expresses its sincere appreciation and respect for the Chapel Hill High School <br /> Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams and Coach Mabe for their <br /> outstanding achievements, and for their inspiration to youth across North <br /> Carolina through their dedication, teamwork, and athletic prowess. <br /> This the 13th day of December 2016. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Rich, seconded by Commissioner Jacobs to <br /> approve the proclamation recognizing the Chapel Hill High School Men's and Women's Cross <br /> Country teams on winning the N.C.
