Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan <br /> Spill Prevention Procedures <br /> 1 ) Past Spill Experience : None <br /> 2) Spill Containment Structures : <br /> All above ground petroleum storage having a total capacity <br /> of 660 gallons in a single container, or a total storage <br /> capacity of 1, 320 gallons, will be contained in a concrete <br /> containment facility, an impervious earthen berm, or by <br /> drainage to a remote impounding area. Other smaller storage <br /> facilities not requiring berms will have sand, screenings, <br /> or agricultural lime available to be used as containment soil <br /> in the event of �a spill. All bermed areas or remote <br /> impoundments will be of adequate size to contain a. spill <br /> . involving the largest storage unit within or draining to plus <br /> one foot of free board. A manually operated, capped and <br /> locked drain pipe is located in each type of containment <br /> structure to allow for removal of stormwater from the <br /> containment structure. <br /> 3) Possible Causes of Spills or Leaks <br /> A. Equipment Failures <br /> i . Rupture of tank <br /> ii. Rupture of pipe <br /> iii. Fire <br /> a. Tanks <br /> b. Pumps <br /> B. Human Failures <br /> i . Accidents involving rupture of tank or breech of <br /> containment wall. <br /> ii. Accident involving rupture of piping and/or pump <br /> equipment. <br /> iii. Overfilling of vehicle tanks. <br /> iv. Overfilling of storage tanks. <br /> v. Vandalism. <br />
