BACKGROUND: Marvin Collins, Planning Director, has advised me of a decision point which impacts on three separate but intertwined goals - Watershed Protection, the Rural Character Study and Hillsborough Cooperative Planning. Specifically, citizens may be confused by/concerned about the Rural Character options without a decision first being made on the watershed standards. Likewise, some Rural Character development options may have to be revised to take into account adopted watershed standards. As you may recall, the adopted Rural Character Study schedule called for township meetings in September, 1993 to present the various development options. Staff has also been developing reports concerning the small area planning process, development densities needed to support public water/sewer extensions and techniques for limiting connections to such lines. The reports are related to both Rural Character and Hillsborough Cooperative Planning goals and due to be presented in September as well .
