The grants program <br /> was established "to encourage the protection, <br /> preservation, and interpretation of historic assets <br /> with local or regional significance, " with priority <br /> given to educational objectives. <br /> A total of one million dollars is to be awarded in the <br /> 1993-94 fiscal year. Orange County is eligible to <br /> apply for up to $50, 000. The application deadline is <br /> October 15, 1993 . The State Grants Program is <br /> different from the Survey and Planning Grants which <br /> the County has received for the past three years in <br /> that the State Grants Program is not a matching grant. <br /> On September 15, the Orange County Historic <br /> Preservation Commission voted to recommend that the <br /> County submit a State Grants application for the <br /> amount of $48, 000 to be used toward the publication of <br /> the Inventory of Historic Architecture and <br /> Archaeological Sites.
