public accomodations, and public transportation; and <br /> (c) The Orange County Human Relations Commission has <br /> determined that discrimination exists in Orange County in the areas <br /> of, among others, employment, housing, public accomodations , and <br /> public transportation on the basis of, or because of, race, color, <br /> religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status, <br /> and veteran status . <br /> Sec . 2 . 2 Purpose <br /> (a) It is the purpose of this Ordinance and the policy of <br /> Orange County to promote the equal treatment of all individuals ; to <br /> prohibit discrimination in Orange County based on race, color, <br /> religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status, <br /> and veteran status ; to protect residents ' lawful interests and <br /> their personal dignity so as to make available to the County their <br /> full productive and creative capacities, and to prevent public and <br /> domestic strife, crime, and unrest within Orange County. <br /> (b) It is the further purpose- of this Ordinance to carry out <br /> in Orange County the policies provided for in various federal <br /> rules, regulations , and laws prohibiting discrimination in, among <br /> other areas, housing, employment , public accomodations, and public <br /> transportation. <br /> Sec . 2 . 3 Construction <br /> (a) This Ordinance shall be liberally construed according to <br /> the fair import of its terms , with full and careful consideration <br /> given to its humanitarian nature and remedial purpose . <br /> 2 <br />
