A <br /> EMS Training Room practical and written test is included as part of the certification <br /> process. The instructor will be Jeanette Smith, Deputy Director for <br /> Emergency Management. Class size limited to 12. <br /> 9/28/93, 9/30/93, Fresh Start Smoking Cessation: Have you thought about giving <br /> 10/05/93, & 10/07/93 up smoking? Now is your chance! Sign up for these four classes <br /> 8:30-9:30 or 3:30-4:30 endorsed by the American Cancer Society. Participants should plan <br /> to attend all four sessions. The instructor will be Jerry Gregory, <br /> Gov't. Services Ctr.Annex Orange County Health Promotion Coordinator and a former smoker. <br /> 10/12/93 CPR Recertification: This course is designed for employees whose <br /> 9:00 am-12:00 Noon current CPR certification has expired or will expire in the next few <br /> months. The course will provide a review of the CPR skills and <br /> EMS Training Room include a practical and written test. Participants should bring their <br /> CPR wallet cards with them. Class size limited to <br /> 12. <br /> 10/21/93 Fire Extinguisher Use: This workshop combines classroom and <br /> 9:00 am-10:30 am hands-on experience in providing participants with fire safety <br /> information and proper fire extinguisher use. The instructor will be <br /> Aging Conference Rm. Bob McLaughlin, EMS HazMat/Training Coordinator. Class size <br /> limited to 20. <br /> 11/02/93 Creating Safety For Yourself And Others: This course is <br /> 1:00-4:00 pm designed to teach safety patterns of awareness and prevention in <br /> response to robbery and sexual assault situations. You don't have to <br /> Recreation & Parks be physically fit to take this course. Rather, the emphasis is on <br /> Activity Area I critical thinking and physical techniques that can be adapted to your <br /> individual abilities. Since a portion of the class will be devoted to <br /> self-defense strategies, participants are encouraged to wear <br /> comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. The instructors will be Kathleen <br /> Hopwood and Beth Seigler, co-founders of SafeSkills. Class size <br /> limited to 24. <br /> 11/16/93 Stress Management: This course is designed to cover stressors or <br /> 10:00 am-12:00 Noon causes of stress, the patterns of stress that cause problems for <br /> individuals, coping mechanisms, and relaxation techniques. The <br /> Government Services instructor will be Gary Romich, a Clinical Psychologist, who has <br /> Center Meeting Room been providing counseling and workshops in Stress Management for <br /> the past ten years. Gary is also the Account Executive for the <br /> County's Employee Assistance Program (EAP). <br /> 4 <br />
