I own 31.4 <br /> acres of land on Orange Grove Road adjacent to Arthur Minnis Road. This land is intended <br /> for top-quality residential use. I do not think it is appropriate to rezone to Rural <br /> Neighborhood Activity Zone as proposed by the Kirks, and I am opposed to it. I <br /> especially object to this proposal because even if we knew the Kirks' plan in detail, <br /> rezoning opens the possibility of resale of the land and a change in those plans. <br /> In any case, any commercial development would depart drastically from and be out <br /> of keeping with the residential character of the area and cause an immediate fall in value of <br /> my land. I purchased the land because of its natural beauty and residential character and do <br /> not believe that this retroactive rezoning should be permitted. <br /> I hope that this matter can be resolved quickly and not leave landowners in a state of <br /> uncertainty. I am unable to be present at the hearing August 23, 1993, and I would <br /> appreciate it if you would provide copies of this letter to the commissioners and others who <br /> should see it. <br /> sincerely, <br /> Jf seph .
