033
August 12 , 1993
Dear Mr . Stancil ,
I am writing to express my opposition to the proposed
change in the Orange County Comprehensive Plan as I will not
be able to attend the scheduled hearing on August 23 , 1993 .
More specifically, I oppose the re-designation of the Land
Use Element of the Comprehensive Plan from Agricultural -
Residential to Rural Neighborhood Activity Node as desired
by Bobby Kirk Sr . and Jr .
I am a landowner whose property borders the Orange
Grove Rd . , Bradshaw Quarry Rd ./Arthur Minnis Rd .
intersection and whose property would be re-designated . I
understand the Kirks Plan to future rezone this area to
commercial in order to build a store at the intersection.
I have also been told that Orange County wishes to designate
several intersections as Rural Activity Nodes to potentially
develop small scale commercial activity such as convenience
stores , resturants; banks , etc. If approved, this
intersection will be thusly designated opening up the door
for further development beyond one small store .
As a single woman living alone whose backyard and
possible sideyard would be next to such development, I have
serious concerns about safety. At present this area is a
quiet, -safe , rural area. Developing this intersection would
attract people to the area with potential loitering ,
buglary , drugs , and the like . This greatly concerns me . I
am also concerned about lights , traffic , noise and the
potential to add more commercial activity once the area is
rezoned , excerbating the above problems .
My home and property are the largest single investment
I will ever make . I worked many years to be able to build
my home . I have only lived in my home for eight months and
