By definition, Rural Neighborhood Activity
Nodes are defined as 1/4-mile in radius, located at the intersections of
arterial or collector roads.
This amendment is a principal amendment to the plan, since it proposes
creation of a new activity node. On May 3, the Board of Commissioners
agreed to hear this amendment at this time upon request by the
applicant.
Creation of a new Rural Neighborhood Activity Node would allow up to
five acres each of Local Commercial-1 and Neighborhood Commercial-2
zoning. The property is currently zoned AR, and is within the Protected
Watershed-II overlay district for Cane Creek watershed. It is located
outside of the Water Quality Critical Area for Cane Creek Reservoir.
RECOMMENDATION: Applications for amendments to the Comprehensive Plan and/or Zoning
Atlas by an individual or agency are treated in the same manner; e.g., the
public hearing is the time for the presentation of the Zoning Officer's
analysis and recommendation concerning the requests.
