Resolution Passed by The Board of County Commissioners of the County al" Orange , North Carolina The following resolution was offered byCommissioner Willl4achtseconded by Comm . Halkiotis and upon being put to a vote was carried Unanimously on the 17 day of August , 1993 . THAT WHEREAS , it is recognized that the proper movement of travel within and through the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Planning Area is a highly desirable element of a comprehensive plan for the orderly growth and development of the area; and WHEREAS, there are a number of governmental jurisdictions within the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Planning Area which have been authorized implementation and regulatory responsibilities for transportation by North Carolina General Statutes; and WHEREAS, it is desirable that a coordinated, cooperative and comprehensive transportation planning process be maintained in the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Planning Area to ensure that the transportation system is maintained on an efficient and economical basis commensurate with the public health, safety, and welfare; and WHEREAS, a revised Memorandum of Understanding between the Governor of the State of North Carolina, the Town of Carrboro, the Town of Chapel Hill, the County of Chatham, the City of Durham, the County of Durham, the Town of Hillsborough, the County of Orange, and the North Carolina Department of Transportation has been prepared that sets forth the responsibilities and working agreements for maintaining a continuing, cooperative and comprehensive transportation planning process; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE Board of Commissionrf the Orange County , NORTH CAROLINA. That the Memorandum of Understanding between the Governor of the State of North Carolina, the Town of Carrboro, the Town of Chapel Hill, the County of Chatham, the City of Durham, the County of Durham, the Town of Hillsborough, the County of Orange, and the North Carolina Department of Transportation be approved and that the Chair Moses Carey , Jr . • and the Clerk ' BeV. Blythe are hereby directed to execute the Memorandum of Understanding for the Durham- Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization.
