Columbia Street <br />Chapel Hill <br />7:00 - 7:30 Assemble /Informal Discussion <br />7:30 - 9:30 Session <br />9:30 - 10:00 Informal Discussion <br />Dr. John DeGrove, a professor with Florida <br />Atlantic University's Department of Political <br />Science, is a leading figure in Florida <br />growth management and a nationally <br />recognized authority in the fields of <br />planning and public administration. <br />Dr. DeGrove is on the boards of the Lincoln <br />Institute of Land Policy and 1000 Friends of <br />Florida. His memberships include the <br />National Academy of Public Administration, <br />the American Institute of Certified Planners, <br />and the Urban Land Institute. He serves as <br />an advisor to the state /regional /local <br />planning and growth management systems <br />in the states of California, George, Maine, <br />New Jersey, North Carolina, Rhode Island, <br />Vermont, Maryland, Virginia, Washington, <br />and Oregon. <br />Dr. DeGrove, considered a dynamic <br />speaker, will address growth management <br />issues in Orange County, including <br />protection of agricultural resources and <br />environmentally sensitive lands, and <br />controlling urban sprawl. <br />The County of Orange and the Towns of <br />Hillsborough, Carrboro and Chapel Hill are <br />jointly sponsoring this public discussion of <br />the future growth of Orange County. <br />Both sessions of the Growth Management <br />Conference are open to the public. The <br />evening session will be geared towards the <br />local jurisdictions iri the County.
