I <br /> 8 <br /> 0 <br /> ( 1 ) Nursing Homes <br /> Presentation by Emily Cameron . <br /> This item is to consider proposed amendments to <br /> the Zoning Ordinance creating a land use category <br /> and development standards for nursing homes . <br /> Under the current Zoning Ordinance provisions , a <br /> nursing home facility for more than fifteen <br /> unrelated individuals must comply with standards <br /> for a rehabilitative care facility. The land use <br /> category for rehabilitative care includes <br /> facilities for persons addicted to drugs or <br /> alcohol, youthful offenders, and persons <br /> adjusting to non-prison life. Such facilities <br /> are permitted in the Local Commercial, Community 1 <br /> Commercial, and General Commercial zoning <br /> districts . <br /> The Planning Staff proposes a new land use <br /> category and appropriate standards for nursing <br /> homes to be included in Articles 4 , 8 , 10 , and <br /> 22 . <br /> The proposed amendments were presented at the <br /> public hearing on May 24 . No citizen comments <br /> were received at that time. The item was <br /> referred to the Planning Board for a <br /> recommendation to be presented to the County <br /> Commissioners no sooner than August 4 , 1993 . <br /> The Planning Staff recommends approval of the <br /> proposed text amendments to Articles 4 , 8 , 10 , <br /> and 22 . (A copy is an attachment to these <br /> minutes on pages <br /> Burklin asked the definition of a group care <br /> facility. Cameron responded that it is similar <br /> to a nursing home or rehabilitative care facility <br /> but accommodates less than 15 individuals. <br /> MOTION: Jobsis moved approval as recommended by the <br /> Planning Staff .
