In-Home Aide involves the provision of paraprofessional services
that assist functionally impaired older adults and/or their families with essential home
management and personal care and/or supervision to enable the older adult to remain at home
as long as possible.
The Department contracts with six providers to perform In-Home Aide Services for clients.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Social Services estimates that $99,000 will be spent on in-home
services provided by Personalized Patient Home Assistance during next year's budget.
Approximately half of this cost will be paid for with state and federal dollars.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the contract
renewal with Personalized Patient Home Assistance for Fiscal Year 2007-2008, authorize the
Chair to sign the contract and direct DSS staff to work with Personalized Patient Home
Assistance during the year to review and discuss any possible issues related to its employees
receiving a living wage.
