DocuSign Envelope ID:8359632A-C43D-4832-B2EC-ED419B356126
The Art Therapy Institute
THERAN 200 N.Greensboro Street,Suite D-6
Carrboro,NC 27510
MT° 919.381.6068
ncati.org
10.13.16
Re: `Into the Streets' Project Proposal
To Whom It May Concern:
We are writing to express our excitement in and commitment to participating in the `Foorafitti'
project with Carter Hubbard.
Our non-profit,The Art Therapy Institute,is an organization of mental health professionals
dedicated to the healing power of the arts.We provide clinical art therapy services to diverse
populations, empowering clients to develop their identities through the art-making process. We
also offer training to allied professionals and seek to raise awareness in the general community
about our profession and the benefits of arts-based therapy.
One of our programs, the Arts and Peer Support Group,is a free,weekly,arts-based support
group for local adults living with severe and persistent mental illness. Group members have been
meeting since 2011,using various expressive arts forms, such as visual art, music, dance, drama,
and creative writing for both personal and social healing.
Arts and Peer Support Group members have always been very open to inviting in community
artists to teach new arts-based techniques and/or collaborate on innovative projects. These group
members were intrigued by the `florafitti'proposal, and are excited to work alongside Ms.
Hubbard and her team if funding for the project is obtained.
One of the overarching goals in our Arts and Peer Support Group—and at the Art Therapy
Institute in general—is to decrease the stigma of mental illness.By sharing our words in the
uniquely beautiful and public way that`florafitti' allows would match our mission at ATI and
provide an exciting opportunity for both our group members and the greater community.
Please feel free to email or call me with any questions about this potential partnership.
Sincerely,
Hillary Rubesin,MA,LPC
Associate Director,Art Therapy Institute
hrubesin @ncati.org
610.348.7253
