4 <br /> Health Department <br /> 7. The Health Department has received the following additional revenues: <br /> • Ebola Preparedness and Response Funds — the Health Department has <br /> received an additional $19,489 in state Ebola Preparedness and Response funds <br /> from the North Carolina Division of Public Health Epidemiology/Public Health <br /> Preparedness & Response section. These funds are a re-appropriation of <br /> $18,389 in funds initially received in FY15-16 and an additional $1,100 in new <br /> funding. These funds will be used to cover a portion of the County Preparedness <br /> position as well as supplies for Ebola and Zika virus prevention. <br /> This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds. (See <br /> Attachment 1, column 7) <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is applicable <br /> to this agenda item: <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and reservation of infrastructure, polices, programs and funding <br /> necessary for resident to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br /> Asset Management Services <br /> 8. On August 31, 2016 County staff responded to a request for proposals from Duke Energy <br /> for funding through their electric vehicle (EV) Charging Infrastructure Support Project. <br /> Staff was notified that the application was approved on November 8, 2016, and a final <br /> funding agreement was received on December 22, 2016. The signed funding agreement <br /> is due back to Duke Energy by January 31, 2017. <br /> The two charging ports awarded to Orange County are part of a total of twelve ports <br /> awarded to entities throughout Orange County and 210 charging ports awarded <br /> throughout the state by this Duke Energy grant program. Other awardees in Orange <br /> County include: <br /> • Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce, 2 ports <br /> • Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, 2 ports <br /> • Piedmont Electric Membership Corporation, 2 ports <br /> • Town of Carrboro, 2 ports <br /> • Town of Chapel Hill, 2 ports <br /> With this funding, Orange County will expand its support for County residents and visitors <br /> who are improving local air quality by running their vehicles on electricity instead of <br /> gasoline. Besides air quality improvements, other electric vehicle benefits to Orange <br /> County include supporting local manufacturers of EV charging station components, and <br /> household financial savings for County residents. <br /> The funds will cover 100% of eligible expenses up to a maximum of $10,000, including the <br /> purchase and full installation of EV charging station equipment sufficient to charge two <br /> vehicles simultaneously: either two stations at one port each, or a single dual-port station. <br />
