2 <br /> boards, and task forces focusing on regional transportation, environmental protection, and <br /> improving jail conditions; and <br /> WHEREAS, she served on the Triangle Transit Board of Trustees, Orange County Board of <br /> Health, Orange County Partnership for Young Children, Orange County Family Success <br /> Alliance, GoTriangle, and Chair of the Orange County Partnership to End Homelessness; and <br /> WHEREAS, she served as a member of the North Carolina Association of County <br /> Commissioners' Environment Steering Committee and the Justice and Public Safety Steering <br /> Committee; and <br /> WHEREAS, Bernadette has served on the Jail Alternative Work Groups and was recently <br /> appointed for an Emeritus position on the Orange County Criminal Justice Advisory Council; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce awarded Bernadette Pelissier, <br /> Chair of the Orange County Board of Commissioners, with the 2011 Chair's Award for Public- <br /> Private Partnership ; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Commissioners desire, on behalf of County officials <br /> and employees, and the residents of Orange County, to express to Bernadette Pelissier their <br /> deep appreciation and gratitude for the services rendered by her to the County over the past <br /> eight years. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Orange County Board of Commissioners offers <br /> Bernadette our very best wishes for success, happiness, prosperity and good health in her <br /> future endeavors. <br /> This, the fifth day of December 2016. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Price, seconded by Commissioner Burroughs to <br /> approve the Resolution of Commendation for Commissioner Pelissier. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> Each Commissioner congratulated Commissioner Pelissier on her retirement and spoke <br /> of highlights of their relationship with her as one of their Board members. <br /> Commissioner Pelissier said being a public servant on this Board for the past eight <br /> years has been a stupendous honor, and she thanked the public who voted for and supported <br /> her along with her many peers over the years on this Board. She said being a County <br /> Commissioner requires a personal support group as well, and she recognized her many family <br /> members who were in attendance tonight. She highlighted two long lasting effects of Board of <br /> County Commissioners decisions and one was the 1/4 cent sales tax and economic <br /> development.
