N. Orange County Health Department <br /> __ lie Animal Control Division of the Orange County <br /> -_Health Department provided the following <br /> assistance: <br /> - collecting dog & cat food donations; <br /> - providing foster homes for misplaced pets; <br /> - animal rescues (assisting trapped animals ) ; and <br /> - staffing the Service Center. <br /> These employees worked approximately 55 hours <br /> toward assisting the animals of the tornado. As a <br /> result of their efforts, this department assisted <br /> approximately 15 households, rescued 6 animals, and <br /> donated more than 200 items of pet food. <br /> The Environmental Health Division of the Orange <br /> County Health Department also provided assistance <br /> in the relief efforts. This agency: <br /> - helped to coordinate water & sewer surveillance; <br /> - responded to inquiries; and <br /> - assisted in expediting permits for relocation or <br /> replacement. <br /> O. Mebane Chapel United Holy Church <br /> With the support and funding of other churches, <br /> community agencies, businesses, and individuals, <br /> Mebane Chapel United Holy Church was able to assist <br /> the victims of the tornado as follows: <br /> - the preparation and delivery of over 1000 meals; <br /> - assisting in the removal of debris; <br /> - providing transportation; <br /> - extending church hours for those in need of <br /> prayer or consultation; <br /> - providing Thanksgiving food baskets to <br /> approximately 50 households; <br /> 16 <br />
