The Commissioners <br /> could approve it and it could be sent out allowing 30 days for <br /> return. If the RFP ' s are considered at the Historic Preservation <br /> Commission ' s last meeting in July, then the Board of <br /> Commissioners could consider them at their first meeting in <br /> August. If the consultant is approved by the Board of <br /> Commissioners, then the Historic Preservation Commission can go <br /> ahead with the contract. <br /> White stated that somewhere during this time the Commission <br /> should decide on the kind of publication wanted. Collins <br /> responded that if there is a special meeting held, the State will <br /> be contacted and there will be information about the publication <br /> for the Commission to consider. There will also be RFP <br /> information. <br /> Anderson stated that varieties of manuscripts should be looked at <br /> by the Commission members to get a general idea of what is wanted <br /> for Orange County. Collins stated that the Pitt County Inventory <br /> and the Granville County Inventory are top of the line. Proposed Amendments to the Historic Preservation Ordinance <br /> In January, Orange County submitted to the State Historic <br /> Preservation Office its application for Certified Local <br /> Government status. During review of the application, Melinda Wall <br /> of the Survey and Planning Branch examined the County ' s Historic <br /> Preservation Ordinance and the Commission ' s Rules of Procedure. <br /> She recommended a few minor technical changes to insure <br /> compliance with CLG requirements. <br /> Changes to the ordinance will make it clear that the Historic <br /> Preservation Commission (not the Planning and Inspections <br /> Department) is responsible for investigating and preparing a <br /> report when designating historic districts and landmarks. This <br /> responsibility may be delegated by the Commission to the Planning <br /> Staff. Another change, which is optional, would make the <br />
