6/24/93 <br /> SOUTHERN HUMAN SERVICES BUILDING <br /> Chapel Hill, NC <br /> Project #9316 <br /> EXHIBIT "A" <br /> MODIFICATIONS OF THE STANDARD AIA CONTRACT DOCUMENT B141 <br /> THE FOLLOWING SECTIONS ARE MODIFIED TO READ: <br /> Article 1 , paragraph 1 . 1 . 2 : The Architect's services shall be <br /> performed as expeditiously as is consistent with professional <br /> skill and care and the orderly progress of the work. Upon <br /> request of the Owner, the Architect shall submit for the Owner's <br /> approval a schedule for the performance of the Architect 's <br /> services which may be adjusted by mutual agreement of the Owner <br /> and the Architect, as the project proceeds, and shall include <br /> allowances for periods of time required for the Owner's review <br /> and for the approval of submissions by authorities having <br /> jurisdiction over the Project. Time limits established by this <br /> schedule approved by the Owner shall not, except for reasonable <br /> cause, be exceeded by the Architect or Owner . <br /> Article 2 , paragraph 2 . 2 . 1 : The Architect shall furnish a <br /> program to the Owner, as Basic Services, to ascertain the <br /> requirements of the Project and shall arrive at a mutual <br /> understanding of such requirements with the Owner, and shall <br /> submit such understanding in writing, and shall furnish a copy to <br /> the Owner for its approval before proceeding with preliminary <br /> designs . <br /> Article 2 , paragraph 2 . 4 . 1 : Based on the approved Design <br /> Development documents and any further adjustments in the scope or <br /> quality of the Project, or in the construction budget authorized <br /> by the Owner, the Architect shall prepare, for approval by the <br /> Owner, Contruction Documents consisting of Drawings and <br /> Specifications setting forth in detail the work required for the <br /> Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, service- <br /> connected equipment, and site work, and the necessary general <br /> conditions of the Contract. He shall provide the services of <br /> Professional Structural, Mechanical, Civil and Electrical <br /> Engineers, qualified by training and experience in their <br /> respective fields as needed to address the requirements of the <br /> project as defined herein; and shall require such <br /> professional engineers to place their seal, name and signature on <br /> the drawings and specifications prepared by them. <br /> Article 2, paragraph 2 . 4 . 2 : The Architect, after consultation <br /> with Owner, shall prepare the necessary bidding information and (' <br /> bid forms to comply with public building laws as set forth in <br /> North Carolina General Statutes Chapter 143 , including the <br /> necessary information required by Chapter 87 of the North <br /> Carolina General Statutes pertaining to the licensing of <br /> contractors, and shall assist the Owner in the preparation of the <br /> conditions of the contract and the form of the agreement <br /> between the Owner and the General and Prime Contractors . <br /> -1- <br />
