The Planning Director was also <br /> informed that separate contracts for the <br /> archaeological inventory and the manuscript <br /> preparation would be required. <br /> The Historic Preservation Commission was provided <br /> with the above information at its May 26, 1993 <br /> meeting. Following a discussion of the options, the <br /> Historic Preservation Commission voted unanimously <br /> to recommend that the contract for preparation of <br /> the archaeological survey be awarded to the Research <br /> Laboratories of Anthropology of the University of <br /> North Carolina. <br /> The Office of State Archaeology has prepared <br /> contracts for the archaeological survey, including <br /> the Research Laboratories of Anthropology of the <br /> University of North Carolina as the consultant. If <br /> approved by the Board of Commissioners, the survey <br /> project could begin on July 1, 1993. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: The Administration recommends that the Research <br /> Laboratories of Anthropology of the University of <br /> North Carolina be employed as the consultant to <br /> conduct the archaeological survey as part of Phase <br /> III of the Historic Inventory. <br /> The Administration further recommends that the <br /> consultant be reimbursed for its services in an <br /> amount not to exceed $20,000. <br />
