<br />NCDOT has investigated these requests (please refer to attached Secondary Road Addition <br />Reports), and has submitted the petitions to the Board of Commissioners for its review and <br />recommendation. In accordance with North Carolina General Statute §136-62~ the Board must <br />take an administrative action to make a recommendation regarding the petitions to the North <br />Carolina Board of Transportation before the NC Board of Transportation (NCBOT) can consider <br />the petitions.. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no direct financial impact associated with this item. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board recommend to NCDOT <br />that it accept the request to add Edburton Court (0.21 mile segment) and Berwick Place (0.05 <br />mile segment) to the State Maintained System. <br />~ North Carolina General Statute §136-62 directs that "The citizens of the State shall have the <br />right to present petitions to the board of county commissioners, and through the board to the <br />Department of Transportation, concerning additions to the system and improvement of roads. <br />The board of county commissioners shall receive such petitions, forwarding them on to the <br />Board of Transportation with their recommendations..." <br />
