Benedict, AICO, Planning & Inspections Director <br /> FROM: Perdita Holtz, AICP, Planner III <br /> DATE: January 11, 2017 <br /> SUBJECT: City of Mebane’s Comprehensive Land Development Plan <br /> __________ <br /> <br />As a previous Information Item indicated, the City of Mebane has produced a draft <br />Comprehensive Land Development Plan. The draft plan and information on the City’s <br />planning effort is available at: http://www.mebanebydesign.net/. The formal public <br />comment period ran from December 5, 2016 to January 6, 2017 and the draft plan is <br />expected to be reviewed by the City’s Planning Board at its meeting on February 13. <br />The City Council may review and possibly adopt the plan at its meeting on March 6. <br /> <br />The City’s Planning Board agendas and contact information are available at: <br />http://www.cityofmebane.com/city_hall/boards/planning_board <br /> <br />City Council information is at: <br />http://www.cityofmebane.com/city_hall/city_council/city_council_meetings <br /> <br /> <br />Approximately 35-40% of the geographic extent of the study area is located within <br />Orange County. Two “primary growth areas” have been identified within the Orange <br />County portion of the study area: <br /> <br />• The Buckhorn EDD corridor <br />• A Mixed Use area along Highway 70, at the western boundary of Orange County, <br />which is within current municipal limits <br /> <br />All other lands within the Orange County portion of the study area are “secondary <br />growth areas” which are defined as “areas with access or potential access to City <br />infrastructure and urban services or that are already developed.” The attached map <br />shows the growth strategy areas of the entire study area. <br /> <br />1
