<br />grant recipient funding. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these <br />additional funds. (See Attachment 1, column 4) <br /> <br />SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There is no Orange County Social Justice Goal impact <br />associated with this agenda item. <br /> <br />Orange Rural Fire Department <br />5. The Orange Rural Fire Department has requested a portion ($45,000) of their district’s <br />available unassigned fund balance to be used to purchase six (6) complete self- <br />contained breathing apparatus and twelve (12) bottles, in order to remain up to date with <br />the National Fire Protection Association standards. With this appropriation, <br />approximately $41,740 remains in the district’s unassigned fund balance. This budget <br />amendment provides for the appropriation of $45,000 from the district’s fund balance for <br />the above stated purposes. (See Attachment 1, column 5 and Attachment 3) <br /> <br />SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is applicable <br />to this agenda item: <br />• GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br />The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, <br />gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> <br />Visitors Bureau <br />6. The Visitors Bureau Board of Directors has approved an appropriation of $250,000 from <br />its available unassigned fund balance for the following initiatives, in conjunction with its <br />current Plan of Action: <br />• $220,000 for marketing for spring/summer tourism business to Orange County. <br />Currently the demand for this time period is slow due to HB2 and economic <br />uncertainties. <br />• $30,000 for increases associated with the North American Travel Journalists <br />Association, the national travel journalist conference that will convene in Orange <br />County in May, and to emphasize growing weddings business in Orange County by <br />promoting facilities through video and advertising. <br /> <br />The budget amendment provides for the $250,000 appropriation form the Visitors Bureau <br />Unassigned Fund Balance. With this appropriation, approximately $105,000 remains in <br />the Visitors Bureau’s Unassigned Fund Balance. (See Attachment 1, column 6) <br /> <br />SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is applicable <br />to this agenda item: <br />• GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br />The creation and reservation of infrastructure, polices, programs and funding <br />necessary for resident to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br />themselves and their dependents. <br /> <br />The travel and tourism industry generates $185 million annually in Orange County. <br />The Board of Directors, an advisory board appointed by BOCC, meets monthly to <br />study trends and make recommendations. <br />3
