2 <br /> 1 <br /> 2 WHEREAS, she served on the Triangle Transit Board of Trustees, Orange County Board of <br /> 3 Health, Orange County Partnership for Young Children, Orange County Family Success <br /> 4 Alliance, GoTriangle, and Chair of the Orange County Partnership to End Homelessness; and <br /> 5 <br /> 6 WHEREAS, she served as a member of the North Carolina Association of County <br /> 7 Commissioners' Environment Steering Committee and the Justice and Public Safety Steering <br /> 8 Committee; and <br /> 9 <br /> 10 WHEREAS, Bernadette has served on the Jail Alternative Work Groups and was recently <br /> 11 appointed for an Emeritus position on the Orange County Criminal Justice Advisory Council; <br /> 12 and <br /> 13 <br /> 14 WHEREAS, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce awarded Bernadette Pelissier, <br /> 15 Chair of the Orange County Board of Commissioners, with the 2011 Chair's Award for Public- <br /> 16 Private Partnership ; and <br /> 17 <br /> 18 WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Commissioners desire, on behalf of County officials <br /> 19 and employees, and the residents of Orange County, to express to Bernadette Pelissier their <br /> 20 deep appreciation and gratitude for the services rendered by her to the County over the past <br /> 21 eight years. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Orange County Board of Commissioners offers <br /> 24 Bernadette our very best wishes for success, happiness, prosperity and good health in her <br /> 25 future endeavors. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 This, the fifth day of December 2016. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 A motion was made by Commissioner Price, seconded by Commissioner Burroughs to <br /> 30 approve the Resolution of Commendation for Commissioner Pelissier. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 33 <br /> 34 Each Commissioner congratulated Commissioner Pelissier on her retirement and spoke <br /> 35 of highlights of their relationship with her as one of their Board members. <br /> 36 Commissioner Pelissier said being a public servant on this Board for the past eight <br /> 37 years has been a stupendous honor, and she thanked the public who voted for and supported <br /> 38 her along with her many peers over the years on this Board. She said being a County <br /> 39 Commissioner requires a personal support group as well, and she recognized her many family <br /> 40 members who were in attendance tonight. She highlighted two long lasting effects of Board of <br /> 41 County Commissioners decisions and one was the 1/4 cent sales tax and economic <br /> 42 development. She said there are two initiatives which are game changers going forward: one <br /> 43 is the Criminal Justice Advisory Council and the other is the Family Success Alliance. <br /> 44 <br /> 45 Oaths of Office for Board Members <br /> 46 • Deputy Register of Deeds William Madden, aided by Former State Senator Ellie <br /> 47 Kinnaird, administered the oath to Commissioner-Elect Mark Marcoplos <br /> 48 • N.C. State Senator Angela Bryant administered the oath to Commissioner Mark Dorosin <br /> 49 • Superior Court Judge Carl Fox administered the oath to Commissioner Renee Price <br />
