<br />Cost -Share Initiatives
<br />The state durrently helps farmers pay. for expenses incurred
<br />when they use ".Best Management Practices"
<br />their farms. BMPs are designed to help reduce the runoff
<br />of soil; farm chemicals, and animal wastes into waterways;
<br />However, many:riore BMP projects are.apphed for tlan`
<br />can.be funded each year, so ;the' CCMP recommends,
<br />.
<br />expanded funding for the program in order to increase<its
<br />effectiveness. The- CCMP also. recommends that similarly
<br />operated cost -share programs be established.. for
<br />commercial fishing operations and non- agricultural land
<br />usesiao encourage sounder environmental practices m those
<br />industries:
