~~ <br />DESIGN SERVICES PROPOSAL <br />Orange .County Jail <br />Existing Building Cade Review <br />Hillsborough, North Carolina <br />May 18, 2007 <br />Reece, Noland, SV McElrath Engineers propose tv provide Professional Engineering Services for <br />performing an existing building code review of this facility. <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Perform. a NC Building Code Chapter 34 Existing Building Code Review, tg <br />identify code deficiencies which will be required to be remedied in order to proceed. with the'installation of <br />anew HVAC system for the facility. <br />FEE: Our lump sum fee forthis study Eight Thousand Dollars ($8,000.00). The milestones for billing are <br />as follows: Presentation of Study 90%, Completion and. Acceptance '10%. <br />BASIC SERVICES: The lump sum fee proposed above includes the following basic services: <br />l . ' In conjunction with our Architectural Consultant, perform the study to determine deficiencies. <br />2. Items evaluated imthis study would include compartmentation, required fire separations, HVAC <br />systems requirements, automatic fire/smoke detection, smoke control, means of egress, egress lighting, <br />elevator control, and automatic sprinkler requirements. <br />3. Review our findings with the Owner including recommending options available to correct deficiencies. <br />4. Review'the study with the county building inspections department and confirmation of the required <br />scope of repairs. <br />5. Provide budget estimates of construction cost for the items 'identified. <br />ADDITIONAL SERVICES: The lump sum fee proposed above does not include services such. as those <br />listed below. We will propose additional fees for such services upon request: <br />1. Design of corrective items identified in the study. <br />.BILLINGS/PAYMENTS: [nvoices will be presented monthly, based on progress during the month. <br />Payments will be due ono net 30-day basis. Financing charges on balance beyond 30 days will be 1-1/2% <br />per month (18% APR). If we should have to seek legal action to effect collection, and we prevail in <br />litigation, then all costs associated with collecting overdue accounts will be recoverable. If payments are <br />withheld or disputed, then we retain the right to suspend further services until the account is current. <br />
