The plan was developed in partnership with member governments, the
state Division of Water Quality and accepted by the UNRBA Board of Directors in 2003. The
plan aims to support, coordinate, and build upon local and state government water resource
management efforts.
The UNRBA is now creating an Implementation Plan that will specify how the strategies that
have been recommended could be implemented on the local level.
Orange County has been an active participant in the development of both the Watershed
Management and Implementation Plans.
This Spring, UNRBA staff are visiting all member governments' elected bodies to:
Discuss the Upper Neuse Watershed Management Plan and the strategies it
recommends;
2. Explain the process for developing the basinwide Implementation Plan; and
3. Solicit support.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact in hearing the presentation of this item.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board receive Ms. Bruce's
presentation and ask questions as may be appropriate.
