A balance of approximately <br /> $600, 000 remains to be allocated as desired. <br /> Becky Heron made a motion to approve the obligation of <br /> $1,680, 080 in Direct Allocation STP funds to the projects listed <br /> above. Alice Gordon seconded the motion. The motion passed <br /> unanimously. <br /> It was requested that the TCC look at the following projects <br /> to receive STP Direct Allocation funding: (1) Bicycle/pedestrian <br /> path from N. Greensboro Street to Elm Street in Carrboro, (2) <br /> pedestrian improvements to existing roads without involving <br /> widening the roads, particularly on the bus routes, (3) • <br /> bicycle/pedestrian project bridge over Morgan Creek (in Chapel <br /> Hill) at Arboretum/Ashe Place, (4) regional modelling process, and <br /> (5) maintaining a contingency fund to cover any shortfalls for the <br /> approved projects listed above. <br /> National Highway System (NHS) : <br /> Mark Ahrendsen summarized the National Highway System (NHS) . <br /> This system consists of interstate routes and portions of urban and <br /> rural principal arterial routes. It promotes interstate travel and <br /> commerce. There was some discussion concerning the addition of <br /> U.S. 15-501 from 1-40 south to the planning boundary in Chatham <br /> County to the system. <br /> Becky Heron made a motion to endorse the National Highway <br /> System (NHS) recommended by NCDOT and to add U.S. 70 (from 1-85 to <br /> Wake County) and the East End Connector to the NHS. Alice Gordon <br /> seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br /> Reference Material: <br /> A summary of Transportation Funding Sources and a Dictionary <br /> of Acronyms were provided to the TAC members for future reference. <br /> Regional Bicycle Plan Supplemental Funding: <br /> Mark Ahrendsen explained that the Regional Bicycle Plan needs <br /> to be modified by the consultant to incorporate comments from <br /> NCDOT. This will cost approximately $5,000. Alice Gordon made a <br /> motion that each of the jurisdictions participating in the Regional <br /> Bicycle Plan share in the cost of the additional $5, 000 necessary <br /> to complete the Plan in the same proportion as the original cost <br /> estimate for this project. Becky Heron seconded the motion. The <br /> motion passed unanimously. <br />
