35 <br /> A RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING THE APPROVAL OF CP-3-93, A PROPOSED <br /> AMENDMENT TO THE LAND USE ELEMENT OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br /> COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br /> WHEREAS, the Bingham Township Advisory Council (TAC) received a <br /> presentation on the proposed plan amendment CP-3-93, submitted by <br /> Bingham resident Bobby Kirk, at its April 22, 1993 meeting, and <br /> WHEREAS, the TAC serves in an advisory capacity to the Orange <br /> County Planning Board on matters of Township interest, and has in <br /> the past provided recommendations on such issues to the Planning <br /> Board for its consideration, and <br /> WHEREAS, the proposed amendment would create a "Rural Neighborhood <br /> Activity Node" on land in Bingham Township at the intersection of <br /> Orange Grove Road and Bradshaw Quarry Road, and <br /> WHEREAS, a Rural Neighborhood Activity Node could allow application <br /> to be made for limited rural commercial zoning, allowing a country <br /> store to be constructed at the intersection, and <br /> WHEREAS, country stores designed in keeping with the flavor of <br /> their surrounding rural areas have played an important role as <br /> parts of rural communities for centuries - a role which has been <br /> absent in central Bingham Township since the closing of the old' <br /> Orange Grove store years ago, and ti <br /> WHEREAS, the substantial residential growth since 1980 in Bingham <br /> Township has exacerbated the need for a local country store which <br /> could provide basic services for the 5,200-plus Bingham citizens: <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Bingham Township Advisory <br /> Council that the proposed amendment CP-3-93 submitted by Bobby Kirk <br /> addresses an unquestioned need for a country store to provide <br /> services in the Township, and that this store could serve in the <br /> role of the old Orange Grove store as an important part of the <br /> rural Township community. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this proposed amendment be favorably <br /> recommended to the Orange County Planning Board, and that such <br /> favorable recommendation be entered into the record of the May 24 , <br /> 1993 public hearing (or such other hearing date as may be <br /> scheduled) . <br /> This, the 22nd day of April, 1993 . <br /> PI • Alkia41 <br /> Patrick H.
