Box 8181 <br />Hillsborough, NC 27278 <br />Dear Mr. Carey, <br />The Board of Social Services (DSS) would like to recommend that the Board of County Conunissioners <br />consider the appointment of Ms. Pat Garavaglia to the vacant seat on the DSS Board. <br />Ms. Garavaglia is a Carrboro resident and business owner, and as such would bring a different level of <br />insight to'our Board. She and her business, Balloons and Tunes, have been the recipients of several <br />awards for services to the community, including winning the Pauli Murray Human Relations Award in <br />2006. She has been active in this community for more than twenty years and currently chairs the <br />volunteer group Friends of DSS. She also helps manage the holiday program for youth in Orange County <br />foster care that brings in thousands of dollars in gifts for our foster children. <br />We believe that Ms. Garavaglia would be a valuable asset to the Social Services Board.
