VII. Dissemination of Equal Employment Opportunity <br /> Policy and Affirmative Action Plan <br /> A. General <br /> The Affirmative Action Plan for Orange County is a <br /> public document. Copies are kept on file in the <br /> Personnel Department and Orange County Library. They <br /> are available for review by any interested person, <br /> upon request. <br /> 6 <br /> Orange County disseminates its equal opportunity <br /> policy and Affirmative Action Plan both internally <br /> (employees, supervisors and department heads) and <br /> externally (citizens and others) . <br /> B. Internal <br /> Personnel provides each department head and principal <br /> supervisory personnel with copies of this Plan and <br /> any periodic revisions. Personnel also provides <br /> guidance and periodic training for supervisors to <br /> keep them abreast of equal employment opportunity <br /> law, applicable state and federal regulations and <br /> Orange County personnel policy. <br /> The department head is responsible for communicating <br /> the policy and plan to employees in the department. <br /> In addition, employees are informed of Orange <br /> County's Equal Employment Opportunity policy and <br /> Affirmative Action Plan through such means as: <br /> -Periodic publication to employees through memoranda, <br /> articles in the County's employee newsletter and <br /> other means. <br /> -Federal Equal Employment Opportunity posters in <br /> County buildings. <br /> -Policy inclusion in the Orange County Personnel <br /> Ordinance. <br /> -Presentation and discussion of the program as part <br /> of the new employee orientation program. <br /> -Personnel Department listings of promotional <br /> opportunities include phrase "Equal <br /> Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. " <br /> -When pictures are used, showing both minority and <br /> non-minority persons and both women and men. <br /> -17- <br />
