IV. Responsibilities for Equal Employment Opportunity <br /> A. The County Manager <br /> The Manager of Orange County is responsible for <br /> assuring that hiring, promotion and all other <br /> employment practices and aspects of the employment <br /> relationship with employees of the County are <br /> consistent with law and policy. <br /> B. The Personnel Department <br /> The Orange County Personnel Department is responsible <br /> for the administration of the equal employment <br /> opportunity/affirmative action program. <br /> 1 . EEO Officer <br /> The Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Officer for <br /> this plan period is Ms. Lana Chandra. The duties <br /> and responsibilities of the EEO Officer include: <br /> a. Development and submission of a written <br /> affirmative action plan. The plan is updated on <br /> a biennial basis, monitored on an on-going <br /> basis and evaluated at the end of each plan <br /> year. <br /> b. General coordination of programs and action <br /> steps established in the plan. <br /> c. Affirmative recruitment from all reasonably <br /> available sources to maximize the number of <br /> minority and female applicants from those <br /> available in the County' s recruitment area. <br /> d. Review and follow up of hiring decisions with <br /> operating departments as to correct application <br /> of personnel policies including those related <br /> to equal employment opportunity and affirmative <br /> action. <br /> e. Investigation of applicant discrimination <br /> complaints and attempts to resolve them. <br /> f. In conjunction with the Data Processing <br /> Department, planning and developing data <br /> systems to provide statistical information <br /> concerning personnel transactions including <br /> applicants, hires, promotions and terminations. <br /> -6- <br />
