Proclamation <br /> TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br /> Hillsborough - 732-8181 <br /> Durham - 688-7331 <br /> Mebane - 227-2031 <br /> Chapel Hill - 967-9251/968-4501 <br /> PURPOSE: To designate the week of April 11 through 17, 1993 as <br /> National Telecommunicators ' Week in Orange County. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The President of Associated Public-Safety Communications <br /> Officers, Inc. has proclaimed the week of April 11 through <br /> 17, 1993 as National Telecommunicator's Week to recognize <br /> the contribution telecommunicators make to the citizens of <br /> the United States during times of disaster or life <br /> threatening emergencies. The Orange County Communications <br /> Center receives and dispatches emergency calls and calls <br /> for service for Orange County and all its municipalities. <br /> Telecommunicators answered over 450,000 phone calls and <br /> initiated over 85,000 dispatches in their service to the <br /> citizens of the County over the past year. Orange County <br /> Telecommunicators are among the best trained and <br /> disciplined in North Carolina. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> The Manager recommends that the Board adopt the <br /> proclamation designating the week of April 11 through 17, <br /> 1993 as National Telecommunicators Week, in Orange County. <br />
