Price, Jr., Director <br /> • <br /> March 11, 1993 <br /> Mr. Cecil McKithan, Chief <br /> National Register Programs Division <br /> Southeast Regional Office <br /> National Park Service <br /> 75 Spring Street, SW <br /> Atlanta, GA 30303 <br /> Re: Certified Local Government Status, Orange County, <br /> North Carolina <br /> Dear Mr. McKithan: <br /> Enclosed is a copy of the application submitted to us by Orange <br /> County, North Carolina, requesting Certified Local Government <br /> status, and a copy of5 the Certification Agreement that we sent to <br /> the chief local elected official for his signature and that of <br /> the chairman of the Orange County Historic Preservation <br /> Commission. <br /> It is our opinion that this locality meets the requirements for <br /> certification as provided in the National Historic Preservation <br /> Agreements Act of 1980 (36 CFR parts 61.5 and 61.7) . The county <br /> does not wish to assume expanded responsibilities. Commission <br /> members include an archaeologist and an architectural historian <br /> who are qualified to comment on National Register nominations. <br /> Unless we receive comments or questions to the contrary from your <br /> office within 15 days of your receipt of these materials, it is <br /> our intention to certify Orange County.
