ILI 3 <br /> Attachment <br /> C8105 - 4/93 <br /> PUBLIC HEALTH EDUCATOR/KELLOGG PROJECT DIRECTOR <br /> GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK: <br /> Performs intermediate professional and responsible administrative work <br /> providing coordination and direction for the Kellogg Community-Based <br /> Public Health project; does related work as required. <br /> Work is performed under general supervision. Supervision is exercised <br /> over subordinate clerical personnel and community volunteers. <br /> TYPICAL TASKS: <br /> Provides overall coordination of and direction for the Kellogg <br /> Community-Based Public Health Project; Facilitates the coordination of <br /> efforts of the following agencies -Orange Chatham Comprehensive health <br /> Services (OCCHS) , Efland-Cheeks Development Association (E-C DA) , Joint <br /> Orange Chatham Community Action Agency (JOCCA) , Orange County <br /> Cooperative Extension Agency, and the Orange County Health Department; <br /> Collaborates with community residents through coalition agencies to do a <br /> needs assessment; Plans strategies to develop and address goals and <br /> objectives of the Kellogg project; <br /> Collects, analyses and tabulates program data for program development, <br /> evaluation and reports; <br /> Develops and carries out appropriate evaluation strategies; <br /> Monitors expenditures and prepares monthly financial reports; <br /> Schedules and plans agendas for the coalition meetings; <br /> Recruits, trains and supervises volunteers/Community Health Advocates; <br /> Performs related tasks as required. <br /> KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: <br /> General knowledge of the functions of community health agencies; <br /> thorough knowledge of agency objectives and procedures; general <br /> knowledge of theories, principles, methods and techniques used in <br /> preparing and disseminating public health educational information and <br /> programs; thorough knowledge of community health planning, organization <br /> and development; general knowledge of techniques in preparing graphic <br /> materials, exhibits and visual aids; ability to present ideas <br /> effectively both orally and in writing; ability to work effectively and <br /> communicate with people of all educational levels; ability to establish <br /> and maintain effective working relationships with community and <br /> educational organizations and groups, the general public and <br /> departmental staff; ability to facilitate cooperation among various <br /> groups implementing health education programs. <br /> EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: <br /> Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation <br /> from an accredited college or university with major course work in <br /> health education or related field and at least two years experience in <br /> public health education. <br />
