NC Highway 57 Speedway Area Small Area Plan <br />Ownership and park operations are not specifically defined, but Orange and Durham Counties <br />have developed a cooperative agreement for the Little River Park and could expand that <br />arrangement to include the eventual park use for the quarry. The Durham County portion of the <br />atone quarry is included in the Durham County Little River Corridor and Open Space Plan. <br />H. COMMUNITY CHARACTER AND FORM <br />NC Highway 57 is a two -lane road with a 55 miles per hour posted speed limit. Over the past <br />few years, traffic counts north of Mile Branch Road average from 1,800 to 2,900 daily trips, <br />which is about 30% of design capacity. South of New Sharon Church Road the traffic counts <br />average from 2,400 to 2,800 daily trips. The highway provides access north to Roxboro and <br />northern Durham County via US 15 /501 and south to Hillsborough and Durham via US Highway <br />70. <br />The local community is rural in nature and surrounds non - residential activities. <br />21 <br />
