Chapter 2: The Plan <br />IlThe: {Ghur -ton ,Street:'CorridoiflMan <br />,The US 70 /� Cornelius Street Corridor Plan immediately followed the Churton Street Corridot "Plan, <br />which served as a basis for the work done by the US 70/ Cornelius Street Corridor. Task: Force. 'The <br />Task Force agreed from very early on the process to utilize the conceptual framework and design <br />suggestions in the, Churton Street Corridor Plan as building blocks for this plan. ..The two corridors share <br />many attributes and both represent major transportation routes in: Hillsborough. Where differences <br />became apparent, the task -force tailored their recommendations to specifically address concerns voiced <br />by residents and property owners in the 70 Corridor. <br />The, Churton Street, Corridor: Plan assumes significant development interest and the plan focused on <br />managing that intense pressure. The same -guidelines and recommendations can be applied within the 70 <br />Corridor to help ensure that future development meets the standards of the town and surrounding <br />neighborhoods. <br />The Task Force applied similar analysis steps to both corridors. The focus was different in that <br />managing growth pressure was the primary concern along Churton Street while encouraging appropriate <br />development and raising the quality of development was the key concern along 70 Corridor. <br />ITJae'MrategioGrowth#PRIan <br />The Strategic, Growth'Plan, SGP, recommends jurisdictional changes based on Hillsborough's <br />anticipated water capacity and transportation constraints. The anticipated water capacity translates into <br />significant residential and non - residential development. „The plan recommends compact development <br />for efficient resource use. ,The second phase of the SGP will make specific land use recommendations <br />for the interior.
