Box 8181 <br />Hillsborough, NC 27278 <br />March 26, 2007 <br />I am pleased to inform you that the Partnership to End Homelessness Steering Committee <br />formally adopted a 10 Year Plan. to End Homelessness in Orange County at its last meeting an <br />Wednesday, March 14, 2007. As an initial supporter of plan development, I am asking that you <br />formally endorse the Plan at your next regularly scheduled board meeting. <br />Please note that a critical component of future plan implementation includes a <br />recommendation to hire a Plan Coordinator to direct implementation: of plan strategies, support <br />the Executive Team, and staff the~County's Continuum of Care known as the Community Initiative <br />to End Homelessness. This position may be hau:sed with the County pending approval of the Board <br />of County Commissioners. <br />In order to hixe this person by January 1, 2008, funding must be secured by June 30, 2007. <br />Funds are being requested from the County and the Towns utilizing the same formula used in <br />2005 far obtaining funds for plan development. That formula is based on population, Thus, given <br />an estimated annual cost of X60,000, the percentage contribution is as follows. <br />Orange County (40%) $24,000 <br />Town. of Chapel Hill {41%) $24,600 <br />Town of Carrbora (14%) ~ 8,400 <br />Town of Hillsborough (S%) ~ 3,000 <br />Once funding is secured, the Executive Team will work to develop a detailed job description for this <br />position and will continually monitor implementation activities. Additionally, the Steering <br />Committee would also encourage you to commit funding for at least three years in order to ensure <br />that we have time to build the "momentum" necessary to succeed in plan implementation: <br />The Partnership appreciates your support during plan development and look forward to <br />continuing to work with you during the implementation stage.
