148 <br /> 8. Aesthetics and Employee Amenities <br /> Enhancement of a site for the benefit of <br /> employees, visitors, or the general public is <br /> encouraged. Examples of such site improvements <br /> are: <br /> a. Use of decorative paving, sculpture, <br /> flags, murals, fountains and natural water <br /> features, or other such elements to accent <br /> the buildings and/or landscape; <br /> b. Including picnic areas, outdoor patios, <br /> nature or exercise trails or other <br /> recreation facilities in the development <br /> of the site; and <br /> c. Preserving open space for wildlife habitat <br /> or recreation purposes. <br /> 9. Lighting and Utilities <br /> [SEE ATTACHMENT FOR EXAMPLE OF GUIDELINES] <br /> a. Underground utilities shall be installed <br /> where practical. <br /> b. Utilities shall be routed so as to <br /> minimize linear clearings and reduce <br /> visual impact. <br /> c. Future demand and extensions shall be <br /> considered when planning utility <br /> installations. <br /> d. Satellite dishes shall meet setback and <br /> screening standards. Transformers and <br /> telephone switching stations shall also be <br /> screened. <br /> e. Lighting intensity shall be sufficient to <br /> provide for safety and security while not <br /> producing excessive glare to adjacent <br /> properties or roadways. <br /> 1) Light fixtures shall be covered to <br /> direct light downward and avoid <br /> overhead light pollution; and <br /> 2) Lighting shall not be directed toward <br /> adjacent properties or roads. <br /> f. Light fixtures shall be compatible in <br /> scale and style to the architecture and <br /> use of the site. <br />
