8 <br /> C5540-2/93 <br /> LIBRARY TECHNICAL PROCESSING CLERK <br /> GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK: <br /> Performs intermediate skilled clerical work in ordering and <br /> preparing books and materials for circulation; does related work <br /> as required. <br /> Work is performed under regular supervision. <br /> TYPICAL TASKS: <br /> Orders books, audiocassettes, videos, periodicals, etc. from <br /> designated vendors; <br /> Catalogs books that have not been previously cataloged by vendor; <br /> Checks materials received for accuracy; <br /> Processes paperback books for browsing collection; <br /> Inputs data into computer programs to update collection database; <br /> Produces updated printouts of videos, audiocassettes, etc. ; <br /> Inputs data on Precision One program using MARC records and forwards <br /> to Brodart for automation; <br /> Makes changes on LePac system using holdings update for any <br /> withdrawals, changes, etc. ; <br /> Maintains communications with book vendors; <br /> Attends Board of Trustees ' meeting and takes minutes; submits final <br /> draft of minutes to director for approval; <br /> Performs secretarial duties such as typing of reports, agendas, <br /> letters, information directories; <br /> Files union shelf list; <br /> Compiles monthly statistical reports using spreadsheet program; <br /> Answers the telephone; takes calls concerning book orders or other <br /> library related information; <br /> Performs related tasks as required. <br /> KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: <br /> General knowledge of general library procedures; general knowledge <br /> of ALA cataloging rules; general knowledge of electronic book <br /> ordering; ability to type accurately and with reasonable speed; <br /> ability to work with computer hardware and software; ability to work <br /> independently; ability to accurately order materials; ability to <br /> establish and maintain effective working relationships with book <br /> vendors and other employees. <br /> EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: <br /> Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion <br /> of two years of college and at least two years of experience in <br /> library technical services. <br />
