2 <br /> Using the County job evaluation system, the consultant <br /> reviewed each position and grouped positions into <br /> classes based on similarities in duties and <br /> responsibilities, knowledge and skills required, and <br /> the minimum education and experience requirements. <br /> Using the County system, the consultant then conducted <br /> the job evaluation analysis on each class to assign it <br /> to the appropriate salary grade in the County Pay Plan. <br /> Attachment 1 lists the recommended classes and salary <br /> grades. Attachment 2 provides the class specifications <br /> for the recommended classes. <br /> Personnel staff has met and reviewed the study results <br /> including the recommended salary grade assignments with <br /> the Library Director and each affected library <br /> employee. <br /> The salary handling planned to bring Library employees <br /> into the County Classification and Pay Plan is as <br /> follows: <br /> - If the employee's current salary is below Step 1 of <br /> the assigned Salary Grade, it will be increased to <br /> Step 1. <br /> - If the employee's current salary falls on a step <br /> within the salary range, it will remain the same. <br /> - If the employee's current salary falls off step <br /> within the salary range, it will be placed on the <br /> next higher step. <br /> No employee's salary will be reduced. <br /> The Salary Grade 75 assignment for the class of Library <br /> Director recognizes the responsibilities as Orange <br /> County Library Director. In addition, the Director <br /> will receive a 10 percent salary supplement from <br /> Regional Library funds for services provided as <br /> Hyconeechee Regional Library Director. <br /> With this salary handling, the estimated additional <br /> salary cost to bring the Library employees into Orange <br /> County is approximately $2,500 for the remainder of <br /> Fiscal Year 1992-93 and approximately $7,500 annually. <br /> This will be funded from Library funds. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends the Board accept the study <br /> report and approve the addition of the Library classes <br /> to the Orange County Classification and Pay Plan <br /> effective March 1, 1993. <br />
