SERVICES PUBLIC HEARING YES X NO <br /> ********************************************************************** <br /> ATTACHMENT(S) : INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> PAM JONES EXT 2650 <br /> LEASE AMENDMENT PHONE NUMBERS: <br /> HILLSBOROUGH 732-8181 <br /> CHAPEL HILL 967-9251 <br /> MEBANE 227-2031 <br /> DURHAM 688-7331 <br /> ******************************************************************** <br /> PURPOSE: To approve an amendment to the Visitor's Bureau lease for <br /> office space in Chapel Hill. <br /> BACKGROUND: In June, 1992 the Board approved a lease for office space <br /> for the Visitor's Bureau. It was reported in June that the Visitor's <br /> Bureau would receive not-for-profit status within the six month lease <br /> period and would assume the lease under their own name beginning <br /> January 1, 1993 . Since the specifics of the Bureau's operation are <br /> still in the process of refinement, it is recommended that the lease <br /> be renewed under the County's name through December 31, 1993 . <br /> The specifics of the lease and the changes are as follows: <br /> Original Lease Amendment <br /> Location: One West Franklin Street, Suite 600, Chapel Hill SAME <br /> (Corner of Franklin Street and Airport Road) <br /> Total Square Footage: 491 square feet SAM; <br /> Lease Amount: $511.46 per month; $6, 137 .50 per year SAME <br /> Utilities: not included in rent SAME <br /> Janitorial Services: included in rent SAME <br /> Other County responsibilities: Taxes and insurance for SAME <br /> the building will be pro rated based on the square <br /> footage being leased and charged back to lessee on an <br /> annual basis. <br /> Term: Six months (through December 31, 1992) EXPIRES 12/31/93 <br /> Landlord: E & D Unlimited SAME <br /> The lease will continue to be funded through the 1% county-wide <br /> hotel/motel occupancy tax instituted September 1, 1991. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends approval of the amendment <br /> which extends the term of the lease through December 31, 1993 ; and <br /> authorize the Chair to sign on behalf of the Board. <br />
