01'4-3
1) 15
DESIGN
The selection of architects and educational planners will be the
responsibility of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools. An educational
specification committee will be formed to provide direction to the architects
regarding the design of the facility. This committee will consist primarily
of CHCCS staff members with appropriate community representation. Meetings
will be open to OCS staff members to attend, listen to the discussions, and
provide the committee with their reactions; however, OCS representatives will
not be formal members of the committee.
ENROLLMENT
The superintendents will convene a committee to discuss program
collaboration between the two school districts once a new superintendent has
been appointed for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools. Discussions in
which the committee engages could extend beyond the programs which would be
offered at the new high school. At this time it might be best to leave
membership undefined because it could change depending upon the specific
program areas being discussed. The superintendents could agree at a later
date upon the appropriate membership with the understanding that both
districts would be equally represented. It is important, however, for this
committee to meet initially to determine the districts ' receptivity to
allowing OCS students to enroll in the CHCCS district once the new high
school is constructed. Recommendations might need to be made by the
superintendents to their respective boards.
TIMETABLE •
After reviewing the feasibility of opening a new high school in 1995-
96, the Non-Binding. School Task Force concluded that the high school could
not open until August, 1996.
