Adoption of Rules of Procedure - Rules of Procedure for the <br /> Historic Preservation Commission were adopted in two parts on April 22, <br /> 1992 and May 27, 1992, respectively (see Attachment 4) . <br /> 5. Commission Reports - As a means of "gearing up" to accomplish its <br /> role, the Historic Preservation Commission, through member, staff or <br /> visitor reports, has considered a number of topics. These topics have <br /> included: <br /> a. Orange County Archaeological Sites [September, 1991] <br /> b. Preparation of Historic Inventories [September, 1991] <br /> c. Preparation of National Register Nominations [September, 1991] <br /> d. Historic Occoneechee Mountain [October, 1991] <br /> e. Viewshed Protection [October, 1991] <br /> f. NCDOT Scenic Roads Program [December, 1991] <br /> g. Union Grove Methodist Church History [December, 1991] <br /> h. Orange County Historic Structures [December, 1991] <br /> i. Renovation of Old Chapel Hill Cemetery [January, 1992] <br /> j . Town of Hillsborough Historic Inventory [February, 1992] <br /> k. Piedmont Architecture 1775-1930 [February, 1992] <br /> 1. Changes in Building Technology [February, 1992] <br /> m. Durham Historic District Commission [March, 1992] <br /> n. Substitute Siding [May, 1992] <br /> o. Tree Topping [May, 1992] <br /> p. Archaeology in Hillsborough [July, 1992] <br /> 6. Archaeological Survey/Chapel Hill Township - In February, 1992 , the <br /> Commission approved a recommendation of the Planning Director and Vice- <br /> Chair that a Planning Intern be employed to investigate some of the <br /> sites identified as part of the Chapel Hill Township inventory, evaluate <br /> the existing record regarding prehistoric archaeological sites in the <br /> township, and, with the assistance of field school students from UNC, <br /> select one site from the architectural historians' reports for a small <br /> scale excavation. <br /> 7. Preservation Week 1992 - As part of national Preservation Week <br /> activities (May 10-16, 1992) , the Commission prepared a proclamation for <br /> the Board of Commissioners approval. The Commission also issued a press <br /> release in local newspapers concerning Preservation Week and coordinated <br /> with local reporters to have a news story (including photographs) <br /> printed about the Chapel Hill Township inventory. <br /> 8. The Trails Clubhouse - The Trails is a subdivision located in the <br /> southwestern portion of Orange County. The homeowners association would <br /> like to demolish a portion of a small historic cabin used as a clubhouse <br /> because of its poor condition. Two members of the Commission have been <br /> working with the homeowners association since July, 1992 to find <br /> alternative uses and have prepared cost estimates for repairing the <br /> cabin. <br /> 9. University Station Land Use Plan Amendment - University Station is <br /> a 620-acre planned community which was initially comprised of 1, 376 <br />
