It's early history is unknown. <br /> OR 489 <br /> Clyde Hogan House: late 19th/early 20th century <br /> W. side NC 86, 0.5 mi N. of I-40 <br /> 2112 NC 86 <br /> Chapel Hill vicinity <br /> Orange County/Chapel Hill Township <br /> Chapel Hill Quad <br /> Somewhat remodeled late 19th/early 20th century I-house; log smokehouse, log corn <br /> crib, frame garage, and a vertical board frame building which may have been a detached <br /> kitchen stand in back yard. It's early history is unknown. <br /> OR 490 <br /> John Kirkland House: 1860s <br /> Just E. of NC 86 on Kirkland Rd <br /> 6814 Kirkland Rd <br /> Chapel Hill vicinity <br /> Orange County/Chapel Hill Township <br /> Chapel Hill Quad <br /> Antebellum log house built by John Kirkland expanded to side around the turn of the <br /> century with frame addition and then topped with a triple-A roof. Some original., <br /> interior woodwork. Kitchen attached by breezeway; board and Batten smokehouse and <br /> stilted dairy in yard. <br /> OR 491 <br /> Patterson House: late 18th/early 19th century <br /> W. of jct Erwin Rd (SR 1734) & Whitfield Rd (SR 1731) <br /> Chapel Hill vicinity <br /> Orange County/Chapel Hill Township <br /> Chapel Hill Quad <br /> late 18th/early 19th c. Federal house originally associated with the Patterson family, <br /> much expanded and remodeled in 20th century. Although retains some original <br /> woodwork, the house has lost its integrity with the expansions. <br />
