The Orange County Health Department has received additional State funds for its Health Promotion efforts. The <br /> attached budget amendment(block#1, page 2)will appropriate these funds, totalling $3,914, to the Health <br /> Department's Promotion program budget. No County match is required. <br /> 2. A claim has been settled in the Department of Social Services. The attached budget amendment(block#2, page 2) <br /> transfers $5,000 from Contingency to the Department of Social Services for this purpose. <br /> 3. The Board of Directors of the New Hope Fire Department has requested that the Board of County Commissioners appropriate-a <br /> portion of their fund balance. These funds will be used to construct a training room at its #2 station. This amendment will <br /> appropriate $26,500 of this department's $48,695 total fund balance(as of June 30, 1992), leaving a balance of$22,195. <br /> The attached budget amendment(block#3, page 2) appropriates $26,500 fund balance to the New Hope Fire Department. <br /> 4. The Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools have requested to transfer$375,000 from their future projects reserve <br /> account into the Chapel Hill High School Phase II project. These funds were "borrowed" from the high school <br /> project to continue planning for the new middle school. With the passage of the bond referendum, these <br /> funds can now be reallocated to the appropriate capital project. The attached capital project ordinances (pages 4 <br /> through 6) transfers $375,000 from the Future Project Reserve Project to the Chapel Hill High School (Phase II) <br /> capital project. <br /> 5. The Orange County Community Development program has received a $250,000 block grant from the North Carolina <br /> Department of Economic and Community Development(ECD) to assist the Hillsborough Affordable Housing Corporation <br /> (HAHC)with the construction of a 35 rental unit development known as Whitted Forest. The attached grant project ordinance <br /> on page 7 will appropriate these funds. No County match is required. <br /> 6. Orange County Housing and Community Development has received notification that Section 8 funds for the i. <br /> Existing Certificate Program have been renewed. These funds total$142,618 and no County match is required. <br /> The attached grant project ordinance on page 8 will appropriate these funds to the Section 8 program. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> The Manager recommends that the Board of Commissioners adopt the proposed Budget Ordinance Amendments and Capital <br /> Project Ordinances. <br />
