Passmore <br /> TELEPHONE NUMBER- <br /> Hillsborough - 732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill - 967-9251 <br /> Mebane - 227-2031 <br /> Durham - 688-7331 <br /> Extension 2000 <br /> PURPOSE: To authorize a resolution to apply for Federal <br /> Transit Act ( FTA) , Section 18 Capital Funding and <br /> enter into an agreement with the North Carolina <br /> Department of Transportation. <br /> BACKGROUND: Orange County Commissioners approved on January <br /> 22, 1991 an updated Transportation Development <br /> Plan (TDP) . The approved plan makes the County <br /> eligible for federal and state funding of <br /> vehicles and equipment requested in the document <br /> over a four year period. <br /> The plan for FY 93-94 involves the purchase of <br /> one 24 passenger bus with a lift, for human <br /> services transportation. The C.A.T. (Coordinated <br /> Agency Transportation) Program will administer <br /> the grant and coordinate the use of approved <br /> equipment. The total cost is $ 48, 070 . 00 with <br /> $31,657 . 50 requested from FTA, $6,783 .75 from the <br /> N.C. Department of Transportation and $9, 628 . 75 <br /> from local agencies . Local match is provided by <br /> participating C.A.T. agencies assigned use of the <br /> equipment. The requested bus will be used for <br /> the elderly by the Dept. on Aging. <br /> Based on Public Notice response, a public hearing <br /> on Orange County' s proposed FTA Section 18 <br /> application will be held by the Orange County <br /> Human Services Transportation Advisory Board on <br /> Tuesday, January 5 , 1993 at 2 : 00 P.M. , 300 W. <br /> Tryon St. , Hillsborough, N.C. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : <br /> Manager recommends approval and Chair to sign resolution <br />
