PURPOSE <br /> 1.1. To establish and maintain and orderly and efficient process for creating,discussing,adopting,and <br /> implementing standard operating policies,procedures,and guidelines(SOGs)to be contained in <br /> the squad's standard operations manual. The squad encourages any member to submit and <br /> endorse an idea for policy in accordance with the following. <br /> 2. OSHA REQUIRMENTS <br /> 2.1. N/A <br /> 3. CERTIFICATION LEVELS <br /> 3.1. All <br /> 4. POLICIES <br /> 4.1. The squad shall maintain a standing"Policies and Procedures"(P&P)committee whose members <br /> shall facilitate the development and approval of SOGs and the components of the Standard <br /> Operations Manual. The P&P Committee shall assist the assistant chief(s)in reviewing the <br /> Standard Operations Manual in accordance with the Bylaws. <br /> 4.2. The P&P Committee shall meet regularly as needed to conduct the necessary business of the <br /> Committee. Any squad member in good standing may attend meetings of the P&P Committee. <br /> 4.3. All squad SOGs shall be formatted in a standard manner(see appendix A) <br /> 4.4. Any squad member submitting an SOG for P&P committee review shall submit the draft in the <br /> appropriate format(see appendix A). <br /> 4.5. Squad members submitting SOGs should review the USFA document on developing SOGs as <br /> posted on the SORS website. <br /> 5. PROCEDURES <br /> 5.1. Any member may suggest an idea for a policy or submit a SOG draft or submit a SOG revision <br /> to the chair of the P&P Committee for review at the next committee meeting. The P&P <br /> committee will review and edit the SOG draft or revision,and post the draft or revision for <br /> "comment and review"by the squad membership. The SOG draft will be discussed at the next <br /> monthly squad business meeting for a"first reading." <br /> 5.2. After the"first reading"and brief discussion of proposed SOGs at a monthly squad business <br /> meeting,the proposed SOGs will enter the"pending approval"phase. <br /> 5.3. Any member may participate in the development of a SOG in the"pending approval"phase by <br /> submitting comments,questions,and/or proposed revisions to the P&P Committee Chair prior to <br /> the next P&P Committee meeting. <br /> GEN-004 Creating and Revising SOGs <br /> -Page 1 of 2- <br />
